What you'll learn in this vocal class:
Award-winning filmmaker, actress, and director Patrice Johnson Chevannes collaborates with senior Linklater teacher Andrea Haring for this weekend workshop! Explore how the Linklater Voice Method can complement the acting techniques that will support you to speak your text with connection while actively engaging in the events of your story.
This is a workshop designed for performers, public speakers, and those who would like to feel more present, connected, and active when they speak.In this workshop Andrea will lead you through a vocal warm-up: releasing tensions in your body and breath, developing resonance to enliven more vocal presence, and waking up your mouth for a more tactile connection to your language. Then Patrice will bring her acting and teaching experience to give you insights to bring your text alive with group exercises and individual coaching. The goal is to support you to find an authentic, embodied, and active expression on the text.
Please prepare a 1 to 2-minute piece of text that you would like to speak – this can be a monologue from a play, a poem, or a short talk on a topic you know well.
Remote Learning
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
Refund Policy
- Enrollment fees for classes and workshops are refundable 2 business days prior to the first class or workshop session. A 5% processing fee will be applied towards refund requests.
- There are no refunds or credits thereafter, unless the school cancels the class or workshop.
If a studio space is closed due to inclement weather and the closure affects a class or workshop, a refund for that particular session’s prorated cost will be offered, or an alternate meeting date and location will be offered to make up for the missed session. Otherwise, no refunds or credits will be given for any missed class or workshop sessions.
No makeup classes or workshops are offered.
The school reserves the right to change teachers for its classes and workshops at any time and without advance notice.
As fellow professionals and artists, we ask that you try to always arrive on time and ready to work.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
