This class dives into photography’s journey for its roots to the present day. The 19th century covers the inception of photography: the inventors, processes, rapid growth, the American Civil War, and the post-war years up until about 1900. The early 20th century covers Modernism and its photographers between 1900 – 1960. The late 20th century will cover the introduction of color photography and the era of contemporary photography until the end of analog around 2000. The last section will cover digital photography in the 21st century including the expansion of the medium made possible by the changes in technology.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Class Cancellation and Refund Policy HCP reserves the right to cancel programs due to low enrollment. In such instances, the student may transfer or receive a refund with no processing fee charge. Otherwise, HCP requires notice no less than 10 calendar days in advance of the first scheduled session for any courses, workshops, camps, or teen academies (“programs”) requesting to transfer to another program, or withdraw and receive a tuition refund. All refunds are subject to a $60 processing fee, however, transfers are not subject to a fee. Transfers or refunds cannot be granted for “no shows,” or if notice is given less than 10 days in advance of a program start. All registrations received less than 10 days before the start of a program, including same-day registrations, are final and are not eligible for transfer, credit, or refund. The Education Director or Executive Director can make exceptions to the above policy in the instance of a verified emergency.
