The Mt. Washington Writers’ Workshop offers serious, craft-focused workshops for writers of fiction and creative nonfiction, in an atmosphere of generosity and respect. Our Advanced Class focuses on workshopping and feedback that encourages the writer's unique voice and material, paired with an in-depth study of technique.
Activities include workshopping, exercises, analysis of published works, discussion, and completing works for submission.
Class size is always limited to 8, so students will have a chance to workshop their material twice during the session and probably more.
Qualification for Admission:
Students interested in the Advanced Workshop will be asked to submit 5-10 pages of prose, fiction or creative non-fiction.
Location:
Mt. Washington is in the Highland Park area of Northeast Los Angeles, about 10 minutes north of Downtown LA, south of Pasadena, or east of Silverlake. It is just off the Ave 43 exit of the 110 freeway and close to the 5 and 2 freeways. The Southwest Museum stop of the Goldline is a short walk from my house. After you are admitted into the workshop, the specific address will be given.
Other things to prepare:
Typical materials for a writing workshop are a computer to do your writing, pen and a notebook, print-outs when needed, and a course book if assigned.
