Description

This course introduces students to fundamental watercolor painting techniques, helping you express your artistic vision through color and brushwork. The class covers color mixing theory, color application methods, brush stroke techniques, and additional practical skills for watercolor painting.

No prior experience required. Participants of all ability levels are welcome to join this supportive learning environment.

Materials you will need: A basic watercolor paint set, a watercolor pad measuring 9 inches by 12 inches (or similar), two cups or tin cans for water, cotton cloth or towel for brush cleaning, watercolor brushes of varying sizes, pencil, eraser, and ruler.

Course access instructions will be sent by email before the first class session.

Refund Policy

There are no refunds or transfers after a class begins. Requests to withdraw from a class or transfer to another Community Services class must be done 5 OR MORE DAYS prior to the first class meeting. There is a $15 service charge per class for each refund or transfer requested. If you enrolled in a class less than 5 days prior to the first class meeting, NO refunds will be given. There are no refunds or credits for absences and late registrations are not pro-rated. Missed class meetings may not be made up in another class.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

Izzy is a very knowledgeable teacher and artist. He explained concepts very thoroughly. I gave this course a 4 instead of a 5 because I wished the class was in a classroom that made it easier to paint and for Izzy to show lessons. A classroom with easels would have been a better setting.

Israel Lopez, is a wonderful teacher. He's concise, patient and pleasant. I have done watercolor paintings in the past, but was always self taught. Israel showed us different techniques like: wet on wet, dry brush. We painted Koi and landscape etc. Five classes only, but packed in with information on brushes, what paper to use... worth the small price. I look forward to take more classes from Israel.

Israel was a very good teacher, patient and able to explain the techniques used. A suggestion would be to email the students a photo of the following week’s project, supplies and technique focus. This way we could be sure we had everything needed. Because we’re not together as a class we’re unable to share paints as we can in person. Thanks for making the class available. It was very enjoyable.

I liked the class very much, the instructor was patient, laid back and knowledgeable. He was kind and never was bothered by our questions, especially nice for a person who had never used watercolors. I learned enough to continue practicing and getting more comfortable. Would recommend the class to others highly.

I thought it was a wonderful class and learned a lot about watercolor. I liked how we did paintings step-by-step and came out with a completed work of art. I would definitely take the teacher again if he was teaching a more advanced watercolor class.

This class has been fantastic! Israel, the instructor, is extremely patient, knowledgeable and very talented! Each class, we worked on a new composition and he provided fantastic feedback. He was always willing to walk through the techniques multiple times and provide tips and advice on improving. It is a great price for the amount of instruction provided! I thoroughly enjoyed this class!

This was a really great class! I learned the basics of watercolours and made some cool paintings while practicing. My instructor was great- he was patient and broke down concepts as needed. It was my first art class over zoom and I really enjoyed it! I do wish there could be a detailed supply list- because of living in an isolated place during covid, I wasn’t able to get some of the materials (such as masking fluid) and had to make so without- it didn’t really affect my paintings too much, but it would have been nice to have.
